For OFF Barcelona Design Week 2026, Kettal transforms its Barcelona showroom into a temporary material landscape, bringing into view the elements of design that usually remain behind the finished object.

A showroom normally begins with completed furniture. From 19 to 24 October, Kettal reverses that sequence.

Textile studies, colour compositions, samples and production components move into the foreground. Seen from a distance, they become sculptural arrangements and fields of colour. Up close, visitors can observe their weave, density, surface and response to light. Finally, the materials return to use through furniture and the ways it relates to the body and the surrounding space.

Five material families designed by Doshi Levien provide the exhibition’s visual thread. Rather than presenting them as a conventional library of finishes, the installation explores how materials change through scale, proximity, movement and light.

The journey continues through three distinct designs: Atlantic by Jasper Morrison, Shogun by Verner Panton and U-Type by Barber & Osgerby. Each places material in a different relationship with the body, from outdoor living to informal seating and the contemporary workplace.

Together, these elements reveal a material culture that extends across Kettal’s collections and environments—connecting experimentation with the experience of inhabiting space.

The Matter of Matter will be open from 14 to 21 October 2026 at the Kettal Barcelona showroom during normal showroom hours at Carrer d’Aragó 316. Admission is free.
