The Carlton Tower first opened its doors in 1961. Managed by the Hotel Corporation of America, the hotel was the first modern five-star property to open in Knightsbridge and was a dramatic departure from the traditional approach to hotel-keeping in London. In December, 2001, Jumeirah assumed management of the Carlton Tower and re-branded the hotel ‘Jumeirah Carlton Tower’ on 21 June 2005.
